Man Utd new boy Amad Diallo needs to bulk-up and improve heading ability to survive in Prem, reveals old coach

NEW Manchester United signing Amad Diallo has been told he needs to bulk-up and improve his heading by his former coach.

The Red Devils completed the signing of the attacker for £37million with the 18-year-old touted for a big future.

The club confirmed Diallo will wear the No19 shirt with 'Amad' on his back as he prepares to start his United career.

Diallo, who played five games for Atalanta, is heading to England hoping to make an impact in the second half of the season.

But his old mentor at childhood club Boca Barco, Denis Cerlini, has warned the ace is not ready for the Premier League just yet.

He told BBC Sport: “Physically, Amad wasn't the strongest at Boca Barco, and his heading abilities aren't good.

“He must add a few kilograms of weight in order to survive in the Premier League.”

Cerlini continued: “We didn't discover Amad, but rather he just came to us. It was a great stroke of luck.

“From the very first moment, it was evident the kid was special. He was very bold and quick, possessed great technique and a strong shot, and executed everything at great speed.

“Amad was popular in the dressing room. He made a lot of friends, learned Italian and seemed to be a very determined guy who knew exactly what he wanted.”

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already spoken of his excitement at the Ivorian’s arrival.

He said: “I’m very excited about bringing him in. I think he’s shown a few times his qualities.

“Of course he has to learn to play in England, that’s a different level of football. We’ll give him time to develop and to express himself.”

The teen is not expected to feature against Burnley on Tuesday night in the top-flight.
