Spirit in Manchester United dressing room is positive according to Gary Neville’s inside source

GARY NEVILLE says the spirit inside the camp at Manchester United is still positive despite a turbulent start to the season.

According to Neville's source, the dressing room remains upbeat and supportive of manager Jose Mourinho.

Speaking on his podcast, Neville, 43, said: "I speak to people at the club and I think that there is a good spirit in the dressing room. Today [Sunday] is a poor performance.

"This idea…he's not lost the players. I don't think for one minute he's lost the players so I think it would be wrong to suggest that about this game.

"That will be the wedge that will be tried to be driven and I have felt it being forced a little bit with the Pogba issue this week. They're trying to force this issue.

"I think he will leave the players because what he needs now is get them right for a week on Monday, a big game against Tottenham.

"It's a worry but it's only the second game of the season so it's not terminal."

This comes despite the Old Trafford club losing 3-2 at Brighton on Sunday, a game in which Paul Pogba admitted his own attitude was not good enough and that everyone was "very, very mad" afterwards.

Add into the mix the public difficulties in the relationships between Mourinho and his captain Pogba as well as agent Mino Raiola and it is a recipe for unrest.

But Neville insists things are still well at United, the atmosphere is healthy and Mourinho retains the full backing of the players.

The Red Devils face Tottenham on Monday night at Old Trafford in what is becoming an increasingly-important game for Mourinho and co.

But the club did receive a boost with winger Alexis Sanchez returning to training after missing the Brighton defeat through injury.
