NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO hailed Harry Kane’s return to action – but still could not guarantee he would play on Thursday.
Kane came on as a 72nd-minute substitute and travelling supporters sang, ‘He’s one of our own’ as the star went over to applaud them at the final whistle.
Their mood was lifted by Dele Alli’s early penalty winner at Molineux.
But asked if Kane would be back in Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off second leg against Pacos de Ferreira – with Spurs 1-0 down – Nuno was coy.
He said: “I can’t answer that. It’s too soon. Now we are going to recover and we assess the next morning, like always.
“He did well, he helped the team.
“He is still in the process of improving his fitness but he is one of the best in the world.”
The England captain remains convinced he had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Spurs chief Daniel Levy that he could leave this summer.
But the club is deadlocked with Manchester City over Kane’s potential £160million move.
And Nuno was delighted with the warm reception the homegrown hero got from fans on his first appearance of the season.
The Portuguese boss added: “I was pleased with the attitude of the fans.
“We have to be together. We have amazing fans and have to be thankful for that.
“He (Kane) is better today and he’ll be better tomorrow. He can still improve, we cannot put a bar on that.”
New Wolves boss Bruno Lage is confident his side are on the right track, despite a poor start to the season that has seen them lose two from two so far.
