St Johnstone 1 Celtic 2 – Giakoumakis nets last gasp winner as Hoops recover from injury time equaliser for huge win | The Sun

CELTIC stretched their advantage at the top of the Premiership table to five points with a dramatic victory over St Johnstone in Perth.

The Hoops lead via a first-half own goal from Andrew Considine but were unable to add the killer second – as Giorgios Giakoumakis saw a goal ruled out for offside and Remy Matthews doing well to defy Liel Abada on a number of occasions.

And it looked as though that was going to come back to cost them when St Johnstone staged a fine late rally in an attempt to get a share of the spoils.

Hart produced two fine saves from Stevie May then Connor McLennan blazed wildly past before they got their reward, Alex Mitchell got on the end of a Theo Bair head flick from an injury time free kick to finish coolly into the corner.

There were only 90 minutes to see out but still the Saints couldn't manage it.

A mix up caused when Drey Wright appeared to sustain an ankle injury saw James McCarthy pounce on possession and feed Alexandro Bernabei.

The Argentinian's sweet cross was met gleefully by Giakoumakis as Celtic recorded one of the late late victories which have been the hallmark of Ange Postecoglou's side.

More to follow.
