Watch laughing Scott Brown wave goodbye to red-carded Ryan Kent as ex-Celtic hero renews bitter rivalry with Rangers ace

FORMER Celtic captain Scott Brown could not resist winding up his old enemy Ryan Kent after the Rangers winger was shown a red card on Tuesday night.

Aberdeen midfielder Brown – who spent 14 successful seasons at Celtic before moving to Pittodrie in the summer – renewed his rivalry with former Liverpool academy graduate Kent.

The Rangers star was sent offin the second period after picking up two yellow cards in the 1-1 draw.

The 25-year-old winger could be seen exchanging words with Brown, 36, as he made his way off the park.

The former Celtic captain was laughing and waving goodbye to the Rangers ace before clapping and taunting him further.

James Tavernier then appeared to defend his team-mate as he exchanged words with his former Celtic counterpart.

Tavernier was then seen shoving Brown in the chest after he had jokingly tried to put his arm around the Rangers skipper.

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon, who was part of Sky Sports' broadcast coverage for games around the UK tonight, wasn't surprised by Brown's actions.

He said: "Not really. He'll be enjoying this and smelling a bit of blood!

"You can see why the Celtic fans love him.

"There's obviously a bit of history there, not just with Ryan Kent but with a lot of players. Scotty's very good at the noise up.

"He'll be loving it, he'll be revelling in it and he has done for the last 10 or 15 years.

"He's doing a great job and I think he's been a really good influence on some of the younger players (at Aberdeen), not only as a player but in a coaching and mentoring role as well."

Brown and Kent's rivalry stems from an infamous incident in an Old Firm derby in 2019.

Kent was handed a two-match ban for throwing a punch at Brown during a typically feisty clash between Rangers and Celtic.

Aberdeen brought an end to the Ibrox side's winning run under Giovanni van Bronckhorst as they drew 1-1 at Pittodrie.

Meanwhile, Lennon reckons Rangers dropping points at Pittodrie makes next month's Old Firm clash with Celtic even more important.

Van Bronckhorst's side now hold just a four-point lead over their Glasgow rivals.

He said: "Celtic have got a tough game away to Hearts in the next league game, but the game on February 2 is going to be pivotal."
