Watch Tottenham's Cristian Romero celebrate in Harry Maguire's face as Man Utd captain scores horrific own goal

TOTTENHAM defender Cristian Romero revelled in Harry Maguire's own goal as he celebrated in the face of the Manchester United captain.

The Red Devils centre-back got his sliding clearance all wrong as he put the ball into his own net in the 72nd minute to level up the game at 2-2 at Old Trafford.

Maguire was looking to clear the danger with Romero waiting in the middle to tap home a Son Heung-min cross.

But the England international, who has been plagued by inconsistent performances this season, diverted beyond the helpless David De Gea.

And Romero was quick to rub salt in the wounds of the 29-year-old by kneeling down and shouting in his face.

Fans were quick to comment on the incident on social media, as one user tweeted: "Romero just laughed at Maguire on the ground we’re such a banter club."

Commenting on Maguire's own goal on commentary for Sky Sports, Gary Neville remarked: "The misery continues for Harry Maguire."

But thankfully for Maguire, his mistake didn't have an impact on the match as Cristiano Ronaldo bailed him out.

The Portuguese forward made it 3-2 to United in the 81st minute which turned out to be the winning goal.

Ronaldo scored a stunning hat-trick at the Theatre of Dreams with the 37-year-old breaking the deadlock in the first half after an emphatic 25-yard strike.

After Harry Kane's equaliser, Ronaldo then put United 2-1 up from close range after tapping home a Jadon Sancho pass.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is the second oldest player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League, only behind former United and Spurs icon Terry Sheringham.
