Young England fan who got Jack Grealish's boots at Euro 2020 hands Pep Guardiola note for hero after first Man City goal

PEP GUARDIOLA played the messenger during Manchester City's win over Norwich to deliver a thank you note to Jack Grealish from a young fan.

The lad had been gifted Grealish's boots by the winger earlier in the summer, while attending England's Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy.

Fans praised the 25-year-old for handing over his boots having popped into the stand to meet loved ones following the penalty shootout heartbreak.

And the same youngster who received the gift was at Etihad Stadium on Saturday to watch the £100million man's home debut for City.

In a clip that has gone viral on social media, he is seen waiting above the dugout as coach Guardiola heads down the tunnel with a staff member.

He called out the Spaniard's name a number of times and the manager duly obliged by collecting the note and continuing on.

The fan, clearly chuffed, said afterwards: "Pep, what a ledge."

Grealish had every reason to enjoy his debut start for City at his new home, having scored his first goal.

A cross towards the back-post was slightly fumbled home by the midfielder but it counted all the same.

The strike doubled City's lead over newly-promoted Norwich and Guardiola's men went on to win 5-0.

Following his goal, Grealish was challenged by his boss to continue racking up the strikes for his new team – just like fellow scorer Raheem Sterling.

Guardiola said: "The goal was okay. Hopefully he can do more but the most important thing is the first victory.

"If Jack has the mentality like Raheem, he can do it. When I arrived here five years ago, Raheem didn't have the goal in his mind. That changed.

"Today Raheem scored a goal because he arrived in the central position like a No9. He is a machine there.

"He changed his mind and decided he is going to score, score, score."
