Tyson Fury says he was 'dying inside' after winning world titles from Klitschko as he urges mental health awareness

TYSON FURY has revealed that he was 'dying inside' after beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

And the WBC heavyweight champion also urged people to look after their mental health.

Undefeated Fury beat the legendary Ukrainian in Germany to become champ for the first time.

But the win didn't leave him feeling fulfilled.

Accompanying a picture of himself holding the belts that night, he wrote on Twitter: "Never judge someone by their exterior look.

"I looked on top of the world 🌎 but inside I was dying. #mentalhealth #JUSTASK."

Fury, now 32, was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and bipolar in 2016.

And amid struggles with depression which led to alcohol and cocaine abuse, Fury's weight rose to 28 stone.

Since making an incredible recovery, helped by loyal wife Paris, Fury has tried to use his platform to promote mental health awareness.

On his own experiences, he told the BBC last year: "I had a massive anxiety attack and ended up in hospital.

I poured my heart out and got back up off the floor and felt like a new man

"A few people came down to see me and I was delirious. I was unwell for two months; I was terrified of everything. My dad came to live with me as I was too scared to live on my own. I couldn't sleep with the light off."

A Halloween night out in 2017 turned out to be the turning point for Fury.

He explained: "I put a drink to my mouth and saw all young kids out – university age kids – and I thought what are you doing? I put the beer down and left and went home.

"I started crying for 20 minutes asking for help. I poured my heart out and got back up off the floor and felt like a new man."

He then concluded: "I had to face the fact I was in denial about my behaviour at times and the lifelong fight I've had with depression.

"I know how dark it can get, but I also know there is light, there is hope."

Fury is back in action in October, when he aims to finally put his trilogy with Deontay Wilder to bed in Las Vegas.
