Armed man shot to death by deputy in Larimer County during eviction process

A man being evicted from a Fort Collins residence was shot to death by a Larimer County deputy when he pointed a gun at deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

The police shooting happened about 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the 2300 block of West Harmony Road, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Two deputies knocked on the door of the home to enforce a court-ordered eviction and a man armed with a gun opened the door, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies announced they were there for an eviction and the man pointed the gun at them.

“Deputies gave commands to drop the weapon before one deputy fired their weapon at the male, striking him,” the release said. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the police shooting, with the Loveland Police Department taking the lead.
