A car was pulled over after police officers received reports of a “body rolled up in a carpet”, only to discover that it was in fact a mannequin of Prince Charming.
Cambridgeshire Police were called to the scene on the M11 on Saturday after reports of a car being driven containing a rolled up carpet with feet poking out the end of it.
The vehicle was pulled over in Ely, Cambridgeshire, only for the officers to discover the 'body' was a Prince Charming mannequin which was on its way to a themed birthday party.
Cambridgeshire Police posted the find on Facebook: "When we received a call on Saturday lunchtime to reports a vehicle was travelling along the M11 with a pair of feet poking out the end of a rolled up piece of carpet, alarm bells were naturally ringing for the informant and our control room.
"We managed to track the vehicle down in Angel Drove, Ely where our officers discovered there were indeed a pair of feet… belonging to a mannequin dressed as Prince Charming who was on his way to a themed birthday!"
The force said the driver was given advice “to avoid such circumstances again,” adding that it was thankful this was just a false alarm.
Social media users were quick to see the funny side of things, with one saying: “It could have been Boris sneaking into another Boozy Party!”

A second wrote, “At least his sole was still intact”, while a third commented, “Never knew Prince Charming wore shoes like that”.
Others however saw this as a better safe than sorry approach and a waste of police time.
One user said, “Well to be fair, better to be safe than sorry”, while another added, “To be fair that’s quite stupid of them really… Waste of police time.”
