Boris Johnson faces backlash after jetting off on luxury break to Costa del Sol

BORIS Johnson faces a backlash after jetting off on a luxury break to the Costa del Sol.

The PM is staying in Marbella with wife Carrie and 17-month-old son Wilf.

It’s their first trip since Mustique in January last year.

But they’re likely to be panned for going amid the fuel crisis, supply chain shortages and surging energy prices.

Sources said the PM is “exhausted”.

He is also facing a Cabinet backlash over the gas-fuelled cost of living crisis.

Ministers are worried over how rising wages could further increase inflation without boosting productivity.

One was scathing about the lack of a focused strategy. Another added: “It’s all fur coat and no trousers — and there’s a chill wind approaching.”

Gas prices, already at record levels, are likely to shoot up in April and new eco-levies are coming in.

Meanwhile, Environment Minister George Eustice signalled visa tweaks could be made to fill labour gaps that are causing supply chain problems.
