Max Cohen, a customer at the barbershop, had been getting his hair cut at the time of the incident.
‘He was walking around behind me and then he slipped … I was like oh it’s fine,’ Cohen said, WHDH reports. ‘And then I realize he’s holding scissors and there’s blood on the floor and he goes ‘Oh my God I just stabbed myself.’
Cohen said that Silva was still concerned for his client after the near-death experience.

The owner of the barshop, Robert Dello Russo, said that Silva was lucky to be alive
‘He texted me, he just said thanks for everything,’ Cohen shared. ‘I asked him how he was doing. He said he was doing well … and then asked me if I got my haircut finished, because he wasn’t quite done yet.’
The owner of the barshop, Robert Dello Russo, said that Silva was lucky to be alive. Dello Russo explained to CBS Boston that Silva was transported to Massachusetts General where he had to undergo open-heart surgery after piercing through an artery.
‘From what I understand, if it had been an inch to the left of the right, he would have been gone,’ Dello Russo said.

He added that the employees were ordered by authorities to leave the blood on the floor until they had a chance to look over surveillance footage.
‘They thought it was a stabbing,’ Russo explained. ‘I mean a guy gets stabbed in the center of the chest with scissors and the police come and you tell them, yeah he fell on his scissors. The story is not believable so I don’t really blame them for thinking that.’
Dello Russo described Silva as one of his best employees who happened to be one of the only ones on payroll because of the pandemic.

‘A lot of my staff, I had to lay them off. They were collecting. I tried to bring them back, trying to muster up some business, trying to keep them going. This was Steve’s first week back at work, and now this. So he’s in a jam,’ Dello Russo said.
A GoFundMe has been made to raise funds for Silva’s medical bills and it has raised just over $21K. Dello Russo said that Silva is keen to get back to work.
‘We’re going to do everything we can,’ Dello Russo said. ‘He’s already said he’s coming back as soon as he can stand up again, without being in pain.’
