Boulder County Jail inmate dies after alerting deputies of medical issue

An inmate at the Boulder County Jail died Thursday after suffering an apparent medical issue.

According to a release, the 22-year-old inmate told deputies at 9:11 a.m. Thursday that he was not feeling well. As the deputies were talking to him in his cell, the inmate lost consciousness and no longer had a pulse.

Deputies and medical staff at the jail began life-saving efforts, which included CPR and using an AED. Paramedics arrived and transported the inmate to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office officials said foul play is not suspected and the circumstances surrounding his death are not suspicious.

At this time, the death appears to have been caused by a medical issue.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the inmate and conduct an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Fire-Rescue and American Medical Response all responded to the call.
