A BRITISH tourist has been left fighting for his life after being hit by a motorbike in Benidorm.
The 25-year-old was airlifted to hospital after he was knocked down on a pedestrian crossing and suffered head injuries.
The holidaymaker is said to have been crossing a road on a red light when the accident happened in the popular Spanish resort.
A group of friends he was with are understood to have tried to stop him and get him to wait for the pedestrian crossing light to turn green before he was hit by the high-powered bike whose rider was unable to avoid him.
The unnamed Brit was given emergency medical assistance at the scene for his multiple injuries before being airlifted to Alicante’s General University Hospital “with his life at serious risk”, according to local reports.
The accident happened around 5.30pm on Thursday on a road near to Benidorm’s Little England area where the speed limit is just under 20mph.

The man who was run over is believed to have been heading to the promenade at the resort’s famous Levante beach when he was hit.
The motorbike rider, a 42-year-old man whose nationality has not been made public, was also hurt although his injuries are not life-threatening.
An investigation has been launched by local police, who are trying to determine among other things whether the motorbike rider was respecting the speed limit.
Neither the police or the hospital could be reached early this morning for an update.
