A car has ploughed into several people sat on a terrace at a bar in the Costa del Sol holiday resort of Marbella.
Police and paramedics have rushed to the premises, which is in an area of the centre of town near the beachfront which is full of cafes and eateries and is hugely popular with tourists.
Distressing images being published in the last few minutes show casualties being tended to by well-wishers as police cordon off the scene.
It is not yet clear how many people have been hurt and whether anyone could have been killed.
The bar is in a street called Avenida Miguel Cano, near the spot where holidaymakers start tours of the Marbella in horse-drawn carriages.
Police have yet to make any official comment on the incident.
Emergency services were spotted outside Cafe Casa Blanca after the driver allegedly hit several customers after his car mounted the pavement, local reports say.
@electo_mania tweeted a video from the scene and wrote a car had mounted the kerb and hit pedestrians and punters on the terraces.
Fully-vaccinated British holidaymakers are now spared quarantine when they return to the UK from Spain.
The new rule came into effect on Monday.
Mainland Spain and the Canary Islands stayed on the Government's amber list for travel restrictions on Freedom Day.
The Balearic Islands – such as Ibiza and Mallorca – was put on the list from 4am – sparking a mad rush for holidaymakers to get back to the UK before the deadline to avoid a 10 day quarantine.
Ministers have said fully vaccinated Brits or under-18s won't need to quarantine from amber list countries from Monday – with the exception of France which is now said to be on an amber plus list.
Spain and Greece now face being put on the amber plus list also, reports say.
Travel experts have voiced growing concerns the Government could spring similar restrictions on other destinations.
Data analyst Tim White said there are a number of countries that could join the roster which has been dubbed the “amber plus” list.
“Luxembourg has very high incidence of the Brazilian variat, so must surely be red at least amber plus,” he said. “Belgium, Netherlands and Germany must be at risk too – low incidence of variants but could change.”
Paul Charles, chief executive of travel consultancy The PC Agency, told the i: “France is one of the big three countries we visit each year and I think the concern is the Government will be looking at Spain and Greece and potentially add those to the amber plus category."
