China accused of building warships with jet fighters to sink ships around world

A warning has been issued over China allegedly building warships to provide a platform for fighter jets to launch attacks on vessels all around the world.

The country continues to bolster its military might as it looks likely to reach the capabilities of the United States.

The most recent actions by officials in Beijing was to create a mock-up of a US aircraft carrier to use for target practice for its missiles.

Speaking to The Sun. expert Sam Armstrong, from think-tank Henry Jackson Society, believes the recent actions from China are to try and provoke western nations into believing they are “powerless”.

He said: “If China is building aircraft carriers built to the scale of US ships, it's developing the capacity to send its fast fighter jets around the world with the sole intention of sinking that vessel and killing its occupants.

"These are working models that are ready to be deployed as a training exercise for a real-life operation against western forces.”

Mr Armstrong continued by suggesting you don’t build a model of an aircraft unless you are planning a “bombing raid on an aircraft carrier”.

Released pictures appear to show full-scale outlines of a suspected Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer and a US aircraft carrier.

The tests come as tensions continue with the US following China's earlier advanced missile tests this year.

In August, Beijing allegedly tested a hypersonic nuclear missile that orbited the earth and caught out US officials.

According to inside sources to the Financial Times, the missiles had only missed their intended target by 20 miles.

The sources said China demonstrated "an advanced space capability that caught US intelligence by surprise.”

John Kirby, Pentagon spokesperson, said: "We have made clear our concerns about the military capabilities China continues to pursue, capabilities that only increase tensions in the region and beyond."
