A CHIPPY has been hailed as the cheapest in the UK after hungry Brits discovered the secret restaurant "off the beaten track".
Blackpool's "hidden gem" proudly offers huge portions of "top class" fish and chips at the best prices – with kids' meals for just a quid.
Tower Fisheries, located on Topping Street, Blackpool, has been drawing customers from across the country as word spreads about its famously cheap and tasty grub.
Thanks to inflation rises and the cost of living crisis, the average cost of a fish and chip takeaway will set you back £11.05.
Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers, told The Sun that chippies had been battered by a perfect storm of rising costs including a trebling of energy bills and a 35 per cent tariff on fish sourced from Russia.
And poor potato harvests have doubled the cost of a sack of spuds from £8 to £16.

One family said they ordered chips, mushy peas, gravy, bread and a cup of tea all for £6.50.
Yet another five star reviewer, who would "recommend without hesitation", explained their fish, chips, peas, bread, butter and tea was just £5.50 – and they offer "kids' meals for a quid".
This value for money comes at a much needed time for many across the UK, as recent reports revealed food inflation hit a 45-year high of 19.2 per cent in March.
But, not all chippies are opting for the same approach as Tower Fisheries.
One woman was forced to fork out an eye-watering £50 for her meal.
Sharon Heppenstall was travelling on the scenic North Coast 500 with her sister Sue when they stopped at the Kylesku Hotel in Sutherland.
The pair ordered two glasses of wine plus two portions of the fish and chips.
And the 55-year-old said ordered the fish and chips because it was the cheapest thing on the menu.
The dish came with two little bits of fish, a handful of peas and about eight chips stacked in a jenga like tower.
The total cost of the meal came to an eye-watering £71.75 including £49.90 for the fish and chips, £12 for a glass of Pinot Grigio and £9.25 for a glass of Malbec.
It is safe to say this restaurant's take on the iconic British dish did not make the list of Britain's Best Chippies.
The prestigious award sees chippies across the country battling it out for top prize each year.
