Christmas bars are back in Colorado in 2021, with six Miracle pop-ups around Denver alone

Scrooges have their work cut out for them starting right about now. Halloween is over, it might as well be Thanksgiving (that’s practically December), which means it’s Christmas bar season, folks.

To be clear: The Christmas bars are coming; they cannot be stopped; and now there are at least six of them.

Starting Monday, holiday fanatics and any others who need something extra in their lives between November and December can reserve a spot at one of six Miracle Christmas bars around Centennial, Denver (two locations), Arvada, Louisville and Boulder.

That’s a lot of Christmas bar options considering last year’s Christmas (bar) was largely canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Now, they’re back with a vengeance.

Three brand new Christmas bars are debuting on the Front Range in 2021, at Boulder’s Avanti, South Denver’s Pindustry and in the heart of downtown at Denver Union Station. That means three rooftop bars dedicated to the holiday extravaganza (Avanti Denver, Avanti Boulder and Pindustry); and one underground speakeasy-style destination decked out beneath the train station.

Add to those the Arvada Tavern, which will transform its second floor again this year for Sippin’ Santa, a Miracle bar spinoff serving tropical cocktails. And Miracle on Main Street will return to Louisville with a “winter village” made up of heated private greenhouses.

Plus, Avanti Denver plans to spread its cheer even farther this season, across the rooftop bar and onto a tent-covered patio.

“Miracle will be bigger at Avanti than ever before,” said Chad Michael George, Miracle bars’ Front Range operator, who organizes five of the six locations.

Booking options vary for each of the six spots, with one only open to walk-ins, some requiring reservations and others combining both options. Any bars that choose to charge for reservations will donate those earnings to charity, George said.

Cocktail options will also vary from Christmas bars past, with a handful of new drinks like the Elfing Around (prosecco, gin, mulled wine reduction, grapefruit shrub, aromatics and orange bitters).

And while I tend to start every Christmas bar season with a bah-humbug, I always end up overjoyed to try out the year’s Christmas bars. This time, my money’s on the sprawling Pindustry rooftop and the new Union Station setup. And the glassware! New to the lineup are tiny shot-glass-sized mugs with nice and naughty Santas (the latter winking).
