War-hero Army doctor disciplined for agreeing that men can’t be women is cleared of wrong-doing by an official inquiry

A war-hero doctor forced out of the Army for his gender-critical views has been cleared of wrongdoing by an official inquiry.
Colonel Dr Kelvin Wright, 54, who saved hundreds of lives in Afghanistan, faced disciplinary proceedings after a junior officer complained about a Facebook post.
Col Wright had shared a quote from Helen Joyce, director of the campaign group Fair Play For Women, that read: ‘If women cannot stand in a public place and say “men cannot be women”, then we do not have women’s rights at all.’
The Mail on Sunday can reveal that a senior member of the Military Provost – the Army’s custody and detention specialists – who was involved in the initial probe, joined the Army as a man but now identifies as a woman.

That person incorrectly noted that Ms Joyce believes ‘every trans person is a problem… and needs to be dealt with’.
Ms Joyce said: ‘This person wants to paint me as genocidal. Trans people should be treated well.’
The complainant also claimed Col Wright, who quit the Army, was prejudiced for banning pronouns badges from uniforms.
Another grievance related to his wife saying of Strictly Come Dancing that she liked to see men and women dance together.
However, the inquiry’s findings are full of praise for Col Wright, and said he had a legal right to express his beliefs.
Dr Ben Jones, of the Free Speech Union, which backed him, said: the complaint ‘should never have been taken seriously’.
The MoD declined to comment on individual cases.
