Coronation is ‘teeth gnashing challenge with no details locked in’, says expert

As King Charles' coronation draws ever nearer, a number of key decisions are yet to be made as the long list of pageantry problems begins to mount.

According to one royal expert, the King may opt to don his military uniform, rather than the usual regal attire.

Daniela Elser, of news.com.au, wrote: "Currently, it is thought increasingly likely that His Majesty may choose military uniform instead but nothing is reportedly locked in."

Elser also says that the occasion has created a number of headaches for the King and his royal planners as he wants to celebrate the traditions of institutions while also appearing modern and down to earth.

"This clothing situation perfectly exemplifies the hair-pulling, teeth-gnashing challenge that lies at the heart of all of this coronation planning," she wrote.

"Charles has to find some way to strike the right balance between serving up enough pomp and ceremony to make Brits’ chests puff up with pride and not letting the whole event tip over into the totally ridiculous.

"There needs to be enough theatricality to sate the glued-to-their-TVs masses, given the fastest way to keep the public on side are well-judged, thrilling displays of regal grandeur."

Meanwhile, the issue of the guest list continues to create headlines.

It was reported last week that US President Joe Biden will not be attending the event on May 6, as he has 'other commitments'.

If the president does decide to give the coronation a miss, it will be seen by the British establishment as a big snub.

There is also the recurring question over whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be in attendance.

The royal pair have confirmed that they have received an invite, but seem to be keeping their cards close to their chest.

Harry was back in the UK last week for the first time since the death of the Queen as part of a court hearing.

Since his bombshell memoir Spare was released, he has rarely been seen back in the UK and isn't thought to have caught up with any of the Royal Family.
