Couple celebrate millionaire lottery jackpot win with KFC dinner

Two new millionaires celebrated their massive lottery win by going out and buying KFC.

Bruce Carter and Emiliana Kaftan of Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada were out for a drive when they decided to pick up a lottery ticket.

They opted to play a game local to the province, scooping a BC/49 ticket for a draw taking place on January 4, opting to buy it from Emiliana’s lucky spot.

Bruce told DH Canada: “I thought, ‘It’s a new year, why not purchase a ticket?'

“And of course, we had to buy it from her favourite place.”

On January 5, Bruce logged on to the BC/49 website and, to his surprise, discover that someone from Quesnel, where they bought the ticket, had scooped the top prize.

He said: “I had my ticket beside the computer and started comparing my numbers to the winning ones and said, ‘Okay, something’s goofy here because these numbers are the same!'”

Bruce added that before calling Emiliana over he verified that their ticket was the real deal using the BCLC’s Lotto! App.

Then he called her over.

She said: “My heart was beating, and I started shaking with excitement”.

Bruce added: “She signed the ticket so fast and started hopping around.

“At one point, I asked her to pinch me to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.”

They told the outlet that to celebrate, they were going to head and grab a KFC with Bruce’s mum.

After that, a fishing trip is thought to lie in store for the pair.

Generously, they even reckon they are going to share their millions with their family.

The news comes after the UK’s youngest-ever Lottery winner, Jane Park, who won £1million in 2013 when she was just 17 said she felt “bored and miserable” after her win.

She said: “Literally it came to a point where I was like 'I hate this'.

“I remember just thinking 'I'm so young' and 'Why would anyone put someone this young through these emotions'.

“I remember my nana saying 'It's like giving a kid a gun in their hand and not telling them what to do with it'.

“I understand how easily your life could just spiral out of control. I could feel it happening."
