A dad has been accused of chopping up his young son's remains and putting his body in a freezer for two years after being indicted for murder.
It's reported father Kassceen Weaver, 49, could have been stashing away the remains of his kid Eliel Adon Weaver, 4, for as much as two-and-a-half years before an uncle raised the alarm with the authorities in Chesterfield, Virginia (US), according to reports.
The alarm was raised over possible domestic abuse at the house.
He had been released by police just a few months earlier after being taken in along with his wife Dina D. Weaver, 48.
Officers first raided the Weaver household in May this year, after Dina's brother mentioned a child who had died a couple of years earlier in his report.
After searching storage and refrigeration units, they found dismembered remains being stored in a box deep inside the freezer unit in the garage.
It has been confirmed that the child was four years old when he died.
Local news station WRIC reported that prosecutors revealed further information in new court documents regarding what was found by investigators when they entered the family home.
Prosecutors said: “Authorities recalled searching multiple freezers in the garage of the Weavers’ home. There they found a box deep inside one of the freezers that they believed to be human remains”
“Police testifying in court said the child’s remains were tied up with twine, wrapped in adult clothing and a sheet and then stored inside of a bag. The bag was placed inside of a sealed plastic container.”
“The smell from inside the container was indicative of human remains.”
Documents also claim that Kassceen had subjected his wife and son to sustained physical and psychological abuse for several years.
Dina allegedly did not contact the police when the boy died because bruises on his body could incriminate the pair for child abuse.
Kassceen is being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail in Virginia and is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on November 30.
Kassceen Weaver was indicted on Wednesday for felony murder, felony child abuse, aggravated viscous wounding and neglect.
He was also charged with concealment of a body, domestic assault and malicious wounding of an adult woman after he allegedly beat and burned his wife with a curling iron.
The boy's mother, 48-year-old Dina Weaver, has been charged with conspiracy to conceal a body and failing to render aid to a child, according to KFVS12.
