Dad of toddler rescued by strangers from flooded car reveals she is 'on the road to recovery'

THE father of a toddler pulled from an upturned flooded car by heroic strangers has revealed his daughter is making a “miracle recovery”.

Phillip Ocheltree’s SUV flipped over while tornadoes battered the state of Texas leaving his baby son Marshal and two-year-old Addy trapped inside as floodwater poured into the vehicle.

But when brave motorists rescued the children from the vehicle and revived them using CPR, it emerged that little Addy was seriously injured.

Thankfully the child is recovering well in hospital and dad Phillip expressed his gratitude to well-wishers in a heartfelt Facebook post.

He wrote: "I cannot keep up with everyone trying to contact about Addy but I just want everyone to know she is definitely on the road to recovery.

"I want to thank each and every one of y'all who have prayed and donated every thing to help us.

"It has been heard loud and clear and God has worked his miracle here today. Thank each every of you for praying for her.

"My prayers and concerns still go out to the families that are affected by the tornado, prayers are going out to you all as well."

On Monday, footage emerged showing hero motorists pulling the two vulnerable kids from the overturned car during flooding as deadly tornadoes swept across the Lone Star state.

The video shows a family vehicle turned upside and partially submerged in floodwater near Myrtle Springs east of Dallas.

The clip shows a group of men trying to force their way into the car to save the vulnerable children who are trapped inside.

Phillip had tried to escape the wrath of the tornadoes when his SUV aquaplaned and flipped over into a ditch on Saturday – with his two young kids still inside, reports Sky News.

When the children are eventually pulled from the vehicle their rescuers are pictured performing CPR.

Phillip confirmed via Facebook that his baby son was recovering well while with two-year-old daughter Addy was "stable and doing much better".

He wrote: "Still under sedation but pulling the breathing tube in the morning to see if she can do it on her own.

"All scans and tests say it looks promising, we seriously cannot thank all of the friends, people family everyone that has been with us thank you all for your support and prayers the man upstairs is hearing them loud and clear.”

Witness Tom Mitchell described his thoughts when the baby, who was “going blueish grey”, was pulled from the car.

He told news outlet WFAA: “This baby is gonna die if we don’t start CPR fast.

“This baby may not make it, this baby may not make it.  No reaction, nothing is happening.”

A woman starts to pray over Tom’s shoulder as the baby, who is still “limp”, is given CPR by the rescuers.

She said:  “Dear Jesus, please let this baby breath.” Tom added: “Well the first prayer she said I felt a response in that child.”
