Denver weather: Chilly and windy on Wednesday

Denver’s temperature dropped nearly 40 degrees in about 12 hours as a front rolled in Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver will experience below-average temperatures on Wednesday with a high of 57 degrees. The sun will make its way back out, but wind near 30 mph will dominate the forecast. Wind was also a factor Tuesday, leading to poor air quality from blowing dust from the eastern plains, which is still possible Wednesday. Temperatures will fall to freezing overnight.

Thursday will be sunny again as the high reaches 63 degrees. Winds will calm but could still be a bit breezy. The low will drop to 37 degrees.

Friday should be a gorgeous day. Clear skies and a high of 72 degrees are in the forecast to end the week. The low will dip to 39 degrees.

A storm could move in Saturday night, with colder weather following behind it.
