Colorado will have a very different weather day, depending on what part of the state you’re in on Wednesday.
High temperatures will be near 80 degrees on the eastern plains, while snow squalls will cripple the mountains. All of this will occur on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, while Denver is going to find itself somewhere in the middle of the extremes.
Midweek will start gorgeous under a mostly-sunny sky with a high of 64 degrees. Increasing winds as high as 21 mph from the west is a sign of the weather shift expected to come in.
There’s a chance of rain before 11 p.m. which is forecast to switch to snow around midnight. The low will drop the temperature to 26 degrees overnight. Snow in Denver on Wednesday could total a half-inch.
Snow in the mountains will be heavy, up to a foot, and create whiteout conditions into the evening, particularly across the Interstate-70 corridor.
Sunny skies will return on Thursday but the high will only reach 38 degrees after the overnight cold front. Winds could gust up to 21 mph out of the northwest Thursday. The low should fall to 21 degrees.
Friday will be mostly sunny with a high of 45 degrees. The next round of mountain snow should begin in the morning while it stays cool in Denver through the weekend.
