An former prison guard and bodybuilder has admitted she probably ‘wasn’t the perfect person for the job’ after avoiding jail following relationships with inmates.
Glamorous Melissa Goodwin struck up two personal relationships with inmates while working at Silverwater jail in Sydney, Australia.
The 26-year-old was spared jail last month following a guilty plea to one count of engaging in a relationship with an inmate.
However, during her trial at Burwood Local Court, she denied allegations a sex act took place during her relationship with inmate Corey London, insisting he was like a ‘pen pal’.
Speaking on Australian radio KIIS 106.5’s Kyle & Jackie O Show, Melissa said: “My personality can be seen as flirtatious and my personality can be seen as I am overly nice.
“Perhaps I wasn’t the perfect person for the job. I fully understand and take responsibility for the fact my personality doesn’t suit a jail."
Melissa spoke of how the ordeal had impacted her mental health due to the abuse she has received on social media accounts.
She said: “Everyone was like, ‘She’s just this S-L-U-T that does this with inmates and that’s not the case at all.
“I did not do that.”
Melissa also started a relationship with a former inmate, Caleb Valeri, once he was released from prison.
She did not tell corrective services about the fact they were dating, which she is required to do, because Melissa was unsure what their relationship was.

Melissa insists she did nothing with Valeri until he had left prison because she ‘loves’ her job.
She told the show: “I didn’t do anything with him until he got out because I love my job and I followed the rules.”
Melissa continued: ““He was seeing about 7,500 girls.
“I’d never been cheated on before so I didn’t know the signs.
“Looking back on it now I was a complete idiot. There was about 62 red flags I completely just ignored.”
