Prince Harry is a ghostwriter’s dream but will need to be “steered away from sounding bitter” in his new memoir, an author has said.
The Duke of Sussex has teamed up with Putlizer Prize-winning writer JR Moehringer, with his upcoming book set to be released in late 2022.
Royal Family members were reportedly given little notice before his announcement, with some said to be “concerned”.
Renowned ghostwriter Andrew Crofts believes the prince will make a fascinating subject.
He wrote in The Times: “Prince Harry is a ghostwriter’s dream because he loves to talk about his feelings and he wants to be honest.
“He is rich, powerful, famous and damaged, and, the greatest gift of all for a ghostwriter, his partner supports the idea of him telling all.”
Mr Crofts has written books for a range of figures, including a Middle East sheikh and a Nigerian banking billionaire.
He says the authors need to feel “safe” with their ghostwriters in order for the relationship to function.
This will be especially important for Harry, who feels "every part of his life" has been "exploited and distorted".
Mr Crofts added: “Harry’s ghost will need to steer him away from sounding bitter and settling scores.
“A well-written book stays around long after feuds and grudges have been forgotten.
“Revenge writing does not make pleasant reading, and a ghost can help an author to retain the moral high ground.”
The memoir is expected to cover his life from childhood to the present day, with seniorroyalssaid to be “concerned”.
Harry struck a deal with Penguin Random House which covers four publications,Page Sixreported.
He and Meghan Markle will reportedly produce another book focusing on “leadership and philanthropy”.
A source said: “With such a steady drumbeat of all the Harry announcements, you have to imagine that the Meghan dial is going to be dialed up.
"One can only think that she would absolutely write a memoir — she has been outspoken to those who know her about her political aspirations in the future."

They reportedly feel his recent criticisms were “bad enough” already.
The insider added: “They haven’t received a copy yet and don’t know what to expect. It’s making them nervous.”
