Closures and lane reductions are coming to Interstate 25 south of Denver. Coming this weekend and lasting through mid-April, there will be work done on County Line Road, on the El Paso-Douglas county border.
There will be two separate 16-hour single lane and ramp closures on southbound I-25 near Monument Friday through Sunday this weekend. Delays up to 20 minutes should be expected per the Colorado Department of Transportation.
- 6 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday – Closure of the County Line Road on-ramp to southbound I-25 (exit 163).
- 6 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday – Right lane closure of southbound I-25 near County Line Road and closure of the southbound I-25 off-ramp to County Line Road.
Starting Monday, motorists should watch for a series of overnight closures of I-25 near Monument as crews build a new bridge for the County Line Road bridge over I-25. The current schedule is below:
- 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday – Southbound I-25 closed beneath the County Line Road bridge. Full closure of the County Line Road bridge. Full closure of the northbound I-25 off-ramp to County Line Road bridge.

The bridge was built in 1964 and will be replaced with size to accommodate one through-lane and one turn-lane in each direction and shoulders on each side of the overpass.
This is all part of CDOT’s South Gap Project, which is working to improve 18 miles of I-25 between Monument and Castle Rock by widening the highway from two to three lanes in each direction. The $419 million project is scheduled to be completed in November 2022.
