    A family of five has died after a devastating house fire after being found on the first floor by emergency crews.

    Around 70 firefighters battled the blaze at a mid-terraced house in Hounslow, west London, while nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, according to authorities. The bodies of five people were found on the first floor by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

    Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, responsible for policing in the suburban area, expressed his condolences. "My thoughts are with the loved ones of those who very sadly lost their lives in this tragic incident," he said.

    He also acknowledged the impact on the community and promised answers.

    A man who managed to escape the burning house was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening. Nearby properties were evacuated as a safety measure.

    London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe said: "This is a terribly sad incident and the thoughts of all of us at London Fire Brigade are with the family, friends and all those affected at this difficult time."

    The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

    "The welfare of our staff is very important and all those involved will be offered support from our counselling and trauma service," he added.

    He revealed that 10 fire engines and roughly 70 firefighters rushed to the scene in Channel Close. The ground floor and first floors of the mid-terraced house were destroyed, and part of the roof was also damaged by the fire. The blaze was tamed by 1.25am.

    Fire crews from Heston, Southall, Twickenham, Hayes, Feltham and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
