I was barred from my pub after posting a picture of their dry roast dinner that looked like a kids meal – it's a joke | The Sun

A MUM says she's been barred from her local pub after complaining about their dry roast dinner on social media.

Katie Lou, 31, was left disappointed after ordering dinner from the The Hope and Union pub in Stockton-on-Teesside.

The 31-year-old said her order "looked like a kids' meal" and was "freezing" when it arrived.

Katie paid £15.50 for her dinner and an extra £5.83 for delivery + service fees.

She was expecting the meal to include pork belly, crackling, apple sauce, creamy mash, seasonal greens, roasties, roast carrots, parsnips, and red cabbage.

Instead, she claims she received three carrots, two roasties, two parsnips, loads of peas in a pod, and a small portion of red cabbage with no apple sauce.

The mum-of-one said: "I thought I'd order [a Sunday dinner] from The Hope and Union in Stockton, and I ordered it and it came to about £15.50, and that was with an extra Yorkshire pudding.

"I was not happy – I paid £15.50 and it looked like a kids meal. It was freezing cold and the potatoes tasted like they had been sat for a while and been re-cooked – they were dry."

Katie called the pub through the Uber Eats app and told a staff member she wasn't happy with her meal.

She was advised to message the restaurant through their Facebook so Katie did so at 5:30pm.

A response from the pub came 42 minutes later, calling her complaint "deplorable" and added their "record for customer service speaks for itself."

Katie said: "I thought it was a bit rude and unprofessional. Everywhere that does food isn't going to always get positive reviews. Sometimes negative reviews are a good thing so you know what to improve on."

She told the pub representative she was speaking to that she planned on sharing her views publicly, to which they responded: "You're barred."

Katie said: "I thought it was ridiculous. I ordered a dinner and it has come the way it did and I was complaining – it's not my fault.

"I have left it at that – I would've gone back for dinner to try it inside but I can't now I've been barred so I won't be going back."

The Sun has contacted The Hope and Union for comment.

It comes after a furious mum slammed her son's school for serving up the "worst Christmas dinner ever".

Outraged Emma shared a picture of the pathetic meal her son, 15, was given at Steyning Grammar School in West Sussex – branding the £3.50 dish "disgusting".

The snap shows a sad offering of a single pig in blanket, a tiny square of stuffing, and a few slithers of turkey slapped on a dry roll on a paper plate alongside a small mince pie.
