Juvenile ordered to perform community service in connection to Oak fire.

A juvenile has been court ordered to complete community service and fire education classes in connection to the Oak fire which burned 153 acres near Chatfield Reservoir.

The fire was sparked on Dec. 27 near South Kipling Parkway and C-470 in Jefferson County.

No structures were damaged by the grass fire, although there was a short-term evacuation of a nearby apartment complex for safety concerns, according to West Metro Fire Rescue. The juvenile was identified as a suspect shortly after the fire.

A single-engine air tanker worked on the fire to help firefighting ground crews and firefighters worked the fire overnight before getting it fully contained and extinguished.
