Levi Bellfield’s fiancée says serial killer ‘not monster’ and enjoys ‘cuddles’

The fiancée of Milly Dowler's twisted killer Levi Bellfield insists he's "not a monster" and says they "kiss and cuddle" in prison.

It was revealed earlier this week that the 53-year-old serial killer had proposed to a female prison visitor, and that she'd said yes.

The woman is reportedly a blonde in her 40s who has been visiting him once or twice a week for two hours at a time.

Bellfield is currently serving a whole-life sentence in HMP Frankland in County Durham, having been found guilty of killing Dowler, 13, Marsha McDonnell, 19, Amélie Delagrange, 22, and attempting to kill Kate Sheedy, 18 at the time.

His girlfriend – who is not being named – now says that he's a "changed" man and that she's "not ashamed" of their relationship.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror she said: "He is not a monster. Yes he has a bad past, but 17 years in prison changes a person.

"He has changed, he has remorse, and there are always reasons a person goes wrong in life."

Sources claim Bellfield has photos of her on his cell wall, including one of her in lingerie alongside the words, “come to bed, Levi”.

Defending her relationship with one of Britain’s most hated men, she said she is not "silly" and isn't obsessed with serial killers.

The woman also claimed Bellfield has demanded a DNA test in a bid to prove he did not father a secret son weeks before snatching Dowler.

It follows claims by a mum-of-three that Bellfield chatted her up at a nightclub and drove her home in the same red Daewoo Nexia he used to abduct the 13-year-old.

The mum says she became pregnant after a one-night stand and has spent two decades hiding the truth from her son, fearing it will leave him “broken”.

Bellfield's fiancée has also blasted claims he “groped” her on a prison visit.

She said: "He is my partner. We had a kiss and cuddle as always, he put his hand on my tummy, that was it."

Bellfield was convicted in 2008 of killing McDonnell and Delagrange, and again in 2011 for Dowler's death.
