Man arrested for two counts of first-degree murder in Green Valley Ranch shooting

An arrest has been made in a May 1 double shooting that left two men dead in Denver’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood, Denver police announced Thursday.

Sergio Rodarte, 23, was in custody Wednesday under suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with that shooting.

Mariceo Negrete, 20, and Josiah Salas, 22, were killed around 2:30 a.m. May 1. A shooting occurred at a home in the 4600 block of North Odessa Street during a large gathering, Denver Police Department spokesman Kurt Barnes said last month.

Rodarte has twice been convicted of assault, sentenced to four years in prison in 2018.

The only people struck were the two men that were pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have still not said what led to the shooting.
