Man whacked around the head with ‘concrete paving slab’ found bleeding on road

A horrifying video has emerged showing a man being brutally attacked with a "paving slab" near a primary school.

The incident was caught on CCTV at Dean Court in Dukinfield of Greater Manchester on Sunday evening, April 16.

Two men were seen standing by a pavement near a black car while one of them appeared to be holding a paving slab over head.

According to Manchester Evening News, the man appeared to be yelling "do you want this over your head" as the victim walked closer to him.

The victim can be seen putting his hands behind the back and leaning over to listen to the man – but seconds later, he was hit with the slab and knocked unconscious.

The man then shouted over the victim: "I warned you!"

Neighbours heard screaming and shouting as before they emerged from their homes to find a man bleeding in the head and a loose concrete slab next to him.

Greater Manchester Police were alerted and officers rushed to the scene and set up a blue forensics tent.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and the victim was rushed to the hospital with serious head injury.

One neighbour told the media: "Having police at the end of your road is an everyday occurrence here.

"I've lived here for 15 years and it's not safe. I've had to get cameras because the ones in the street don't work anymore.

"The police are just called out here so much and they are so stretched, they're doing their best."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "GMP can confirm an investigation into an attempt murder has been launched.

"Officers were initially called to Dean Court in Dukinfield at around 8pm on Sunday April 16, 2023.

"As a result, a 25-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in custody for questioning.

"The injuries sustained by the victim were believed to be serious, but thankfully not life-threatening."
