Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's sit-down interview with TV host Oprah Winfrey is just weeks away from airing and a royal commentator has called it a "disaster waiting to happen".
The duo previously quit social media over abusive messages and Meghan has said she's the "most trolled person in the world" and spoken about her loneliness in the royal family in an ITV interview.
According to Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers, it's not clear if Harry will "put his foot in it" or save the Royal Family from embarrassment by staying tactful about his and Meghan's decision to leave the UK.
Discussing the interview, due to air on March 8, on the podcast Pod Save the Queen, he said: "There were some reports that the Queen does trust Harry, that he won't put his foot in it or disgrace himself or the family, but these things do not go to plan do they?"
He then pointed to Prince Andrew's "cataclysmic" interview about his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein on BBC Newsnight last year.
"And even further back, you look in the Nineties, we’re still talking about those two interviews now, Princess Diana and Prince Charles before her, so it's an absolute disaster waiting to happen potentially," Russell said.
The royal commentator said fears around the interview were heightened by the fact Meghan and harry apparently announced it was going ahead before letting the Palace know.
He added: "I think, not only does this create nervousness in the Palace, that this is something that they wouldn’t have wanted to happen, Harry and Meghan didn’t tell anyone at the Palace, they didn’t tell any of the senior royals.
"Certainly everyone found out about it at the same time on Twitter the other day."
A source said to be close to Meghan and Harry has told E! News they will discuss "tension" in the Royal Family during the Oprah interview.
They said it be "very candid" because the couple feel completely free to speak their minds after stepping back as royals.
