Meghan’s signature pose with Harry ‘unnatural and staged’ – body language expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Hollywood poses for Time Magazine are 'unnatural' and 'staged', an expert has claimed.

The royal couple wowed fans with their glamorous shots taken by photographer Pari Dukovic as they were named one of the top 100 most influential people

But some eagle-eyed royal watchers may have noticed something familiar about the way the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pose.

In one of the Time photos, the pair can be seen walking through a garden holding hands as they smile lovingly at each other – but this isn’t the first time we have seen this pose.

In fact, the parents of two are regularly seen staring into one another’s eyes whenever a camera comes out.

According to body language expert Judi James, the romantic and candid-appearing shot is far from natural.

Speaking to Fabulous, the expert said: “Eye-ball to eye-ball gazing can be used by a couple to transmit all sorts of messages, from ‘I love you’ to ‘Put that pint down, we’re leaving!’.

However, Judi believes Meghan and Harry use it to signal exclusivity; an engagement in intimate and private non-verbal conversations, and emphatically equal amounts of devotion and romantic attraction.

James explains: "The eyes are the most telling part of the body and eye-gazing like this suggests a desire to tune into one another and read one another’s thoughts.

"Combined with the kind of matching smiles Harry and Meghan are wearing it is also supposed to let us know they are each other’s fan.

"When you do it as you are walking along like the Sussexes though, it is actually an adopted pose rather than a natural and comfortable body language set-piece when performed as you walk along.

"A swift glance might be natural but to walk and eye-gaze is tricky and unnatural, suggesting the Sussexes adopt this look as a signal to the world rather than a spontaneous ritual."

The news comes as Meghan and Harry were given a spot in the Time 100 for their "compassion for the people they don't know" and how they "run towards the struggle."

The couple appeared on the list among stars such as footballer Marcus Rashford, singer Dua Lipa and TikTok's Charlie D'Amelio.
