The sun is beating down on the UK, leaving millions of people with sleepless nights, scorching days and loathing the fact there’s barely any air conditioning in this country.
It’s one of the longest heatwaves in years and it hasn’t even reached its peak in most places around the UK.
In fact, this coming weekend is forecast to be almost identical to the last, as the sun will be baring down until next week.
It’ll give people the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sun once again – just make sure to pack the sunscreen wherever you end up going.
The Met Office has provided an update on when to expect the temperature to finally dip… just don’t expect it to happen in the coming days.
When will the heatwave end?
The temperature is forecast to drop over the course of the next couple of days, according to the Met Office, though it will rise again this weekend – July 15 to 17.
Temperatures are expected to remain consistently high, around the mid- to high-20s.
It isn’t clear when the main heatwave will end, though it is expected to peak on Monday July 18 after the Met Office issued an “Extreme Heat” warning.
If Monday remains the peak, then temperatures will steadily decrease over the course of the following days.
There are still six days to go though, and as we all know the weather is very unpredictable, so expect anything to change.
How hot will it get?
The Met Office's Greg Dewhurst has issued an “Extreme Heat” warning for the weekend ahead, with temperature exceeding 30C in most areas around England.
On Twitter, Greg wrote: “An Extreme Heat warning has been issued from the @metoffice for Sunday and is likely to be extended into Monday too. Some serious weather on the way…”
One user replied asking if temperatures could even exceed 40C, and Greg didn’t rule it out.
He replied: “Thanks Anna! Recorded that at 3am in the morning lol! Some models are showing over 40C but are on the extreme side.
“Mid-thirties more likely, though still a week away so lots to play for!”
