Missing Brit hiker Esther Dingley’s partner paid her tribute days before bones thought to be hers were discovered

MISSING Brit hiker Esther Dingley’s partner paid her tribute days before bones thought to be hers were discovered.

Dan Colegate hailed his “wonderful” girlfriend, 37, who vanished last November on a solo trek in the Pyrenees.

He told how Esther secretly draped birthday banners for him in their tent during an Alpine hike.

Dan, 39, wrote: “Esther is always doing her utmost to make others feel special.

“For the first month of our hike last summer, Esther also carried a heavier pack.

“She was ultimately stronger and in better shape than me and she wanted me to enjoy myself as much as she was.”

He pledged to carry on searching for Esther, who is from Durham.

Her last known communication was a text she sent him from 8,796ft Pico Salvaguardia on the France-Spain border.

A runner found the bones in the area.

Police are “90 per cent certain” they are human.

No identification is expected for weeks.
