More bloodshed in London as man, 18, becomes FOURTH person murdered this weekend – The Sun

HORROR in the capital as yet another person is fatally stabbed, bringing the death toll for this weekend alone to four.

An 18-year old man died around 7am this morning after staggering into a south London hospital in the early hours with knife wounds.

Police were called to a fight in Walworth, southeast London close to 5am this morning where officers arrested three men but could not locate the 18-year old victim who had taken himself to a local hospital.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "In the early hours of Sunday, 30 June, a male self-presented at a south London hospital suffering from stab injuries.

"Around the same time, police were called at 0451hrs on Sunday, 30 June to reports of a fight at Sutherland Walk, SE17.

"When police attended no victim could be found. The victim from the Sutherland Walk incident is believed to the male who self-presented at hospital."

The teen later died of his injuries and police have launched a murder investigation.

Enquiries are underway to notify the victim's family.

SPATE OF STABBINGS

The tragic death follows a spate of knife attacks this weekend – with the death toll for this year now having climbed to 68.

Shortly before 6pm on Saturday evening Lambeth police responded to reports of a fight taking place on Coldharbor Lane in Brixton.

A 54-year old man who had sustained knife injuries received treatment at the scene, but later died from his injuries in hospital.

Police are appealing for information on the stabbing, releasing a statement via their twitter account @LambethMPS, "A crime scene is currently in place at Coldharbour Lane , SW9 after a 54-year-old man was found injured.

"Officers responded to calls of a fight at around 5.55pm on Saturday. The man was taken to hospital and died at 10.10pm. Two arrests have been made.

"If you have any information on the incident at Coldharbour Lane please call 101 quoting CAD 6291/29 June. To remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Later that night, police were called to the Junction of Ron Leighton Way and Wakefield Street in East Ham, Newham where a man in his late twenties was pronounced dead at the scene from knife wounds.

Although the identity of the man is yet to be released publicly, police have notified his next of kin.

A murder investigation has been launched, and the Met police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

DEATH TOLL RISING

The separate incidents occurred just hours after a pregnant woman was tragically stabbed to death in Croydon in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Her baby was miraculously delivered by paramedics on the scene and is currently in hospital in a critical condition.

According to reports, a 17-year old was also stabbed this weekend after a fight broke out in Blackgrove Crescent, Eastcote on Friday night.

The teenager is currently hospitalised, in a stable condition.

Knife crime numbers continue to rise in London as some 340,000 Londoners  move away from the capital to escape the deadly epidemic.

Countrywide, there were 40,577 offences involving a knife or a sharp object recorded by police in 2018 – that's 10,000 more than in 2011.

Knife crime numbers have steadily risen for five years now, with the death toll in London alone to be around 68 with dozens more hospitalised and fighting for their lives.

On May 17 of this year, the BBC released the names and faces of the first 100 fatal stabbing victims of 2019 – the youngest being 14-year old Jaden Moodie who was stabbed around eight times in a "frenzied attack" in east London.

The stabbings this weekend follow grime artist Stormzy donning a stab-proof vest painted with a Union Jack by none other than Banksy himself for his Glastonbury headliner performance.

The artist-rap collaboration is likely a nod to the horrifying knife crime epidemic plaguing the UK.
