New Brian Laundrie riddle as sleuths point out strange detail about gun in his shooting death

BRIAN Laundrie shot himself in the left side of his head but was right-handed, medical examiner reports revealed.

The autopsy and forensic documents were published weeks after FBI investigators confirmed the 23-year-old admitted killing his fiancée Gabby Petito in a note, before taking his own life.

The report revealed that Laundrie killed himself with a single bullet in the left side of the head.

It also suggested that the 23-year-old used his weaker hand as his sister told investigators that he was “right-hand dominant”, Crime Online reports.

Laundrie’s skeletal remains were found in the Florida wilderness in October last year following an extensive manhunt.

The scene where his body was found contained personal items including shorts, shoes, and a backpack with unknown contents.

A handwritten half note and a hat with the logo “MOAB Coffee Roasters” were also discovered.

The drybag, which was found by Laundrie's father Chris, contained a journal, along with a wooden box that contained a small notebook and a picture of the 23-year-old.

Additional photos were found inside the bag, but details about the images remain unknown.

Laundrie's remains were found with "the vast majority of the skeleton" recovered with "extensive" fragmentation to the skull from a gunshot injury to the head.

His bones had “moderately extensive carnivore activity” and there was no soft tissue left on the skeleton, the report revealed.

Investigators believe that wild dogs and coyotes were among animals that disturbed Laundrie’s remains.

Last month, Laundrie admitted to killing his fiancée and used fake texts to mislead cops.

FBI investigators said, "a review of the notebook revealed written statements by Mr. Laundrie claiming responsibility for Ms. Petito’s death."

MESSAGES EXCHANGED

After Gabby died, there were several messages exchanged between her and Brian's phone.

Investigators said: “The timing and content of these messages are indicative of Mr. Laundrie attempting to deceive law enforcement by giving the impression that Ms. Petito was still alive.”

Cops revealed that Laundrie’s parents will not be charged over Gabby’s murder.

The FBI said their probe didn't identify any other individuals other than Laundrie involved in the vlogger's death.

Steve Bertolino, who represented the Laundrie family, said: "Gabby and Brian are no longer with their families and this tragedy has caused enormous emotional pain and suffering to all who loved either or both of them."

In a statement before the FBI released the comment, Gabby's family attorney said: "We truly appreciate the FBI’s diligent and painstaking efforts in this extremely complicated case.

"The quality and quantity of the facts and information collected by the FBI leave no doubt that Brian Laundrie murdered Gabby."
