Princess Eugenie of York has given birth to her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

Eugenie, Prince Andrew's daughter, announced her pregnancy on Friday, September 25 2020 just two years shy of her second wedding anniversary in October.

On Tuesday afternoon the Palace confirmed she gave birth to a healthy baby boy at The Portland Hospital in central London this morning.

"Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital," an official statement reads.

"Jack Brooksbank was present. The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news.

"This is Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child, The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York’s first grandchild, and the ninth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

Eugenie broke the news on her own Instagram account — where she has more than a million followers — with an adorable black-and-white photo of her tiny son's hand.

She added three blue hearts for the caption.

Royal fans have already flooded social media with congratulations and warm wishes for the new parents.

The new arrival becomes Queen Elizabeth's ninth great-grandchild and Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's first grandchild, and is now 11th in line to the throne.

Announcing the pregnancy on behalf of the couple back in September, Buckingham Palace said: "Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are "very pleased" to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021."

Queen Elizabeth the II and the Duke of Edinburgh were said to be "delighted with the news," the palace added at the time, as were Eugenie's parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

Leading UK bookies Ladbrokes revealed last month that Arthur and Grace were the leading baby names for the child, both at 6/1, depending on gender.

But slightly more out there options also in the running include Arabella, at 7/1, and Tarquin, at 12/1.
