DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after an OAP was beaten during a horrific mugging outside her own home.
The 75-year-old woman was hospitalised with a brain bleed and shocking facial injuries following the random violent attack in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
She was left bloodied and bruised, and sustained fractured cheekbones and eye sockets, as well as an injury to her nose.
The victim was left “covered in blood from head to toe” after being set upon for her bag in the early hours of Saturday morning, with no arrests having been made.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News the woman's daughter said: "I still don't know if she is going to be okay.
"She could have died, really. Her fiancé gave me a call at about 1.20am in the morning.
"He said your mum's been mugged.
"She lives in a flat and at the bottom of the stairs there was a pool of blood.

"When I got there the police were there, the paramedics were there and we followed in the car to the hospital. I still don't know if she is going to be ok."
The victim cannot remember the incident fully, but believes the suspect tried to grab her bag, which contained a £10 note and an old phone.
She is currently recovering in Stepping Hospital from a bleed on the brain, with her daughter hoping that more CCTV cameras will be installed in the area following the attack.
