‘Officer Naughty’ who missed Wayne Couzens arrest claims she was ‘bullied’ out

An ex-police officer known on OnlyFans as “Officer Naughty” says she was “bullied” out of her Metropolitan Police job by misogynists.

A gross misconduct hearing last month concluded that Samantha Lee had failed to make “the correct investigative inquiries” when told to investigate allegations of indecent exposure against killer cop Wayne Couzens.

She was sent to investigate a report of indecent exposure in March 2021, just days before Couzens killed Sarah Everard, the hearing was told.

Paul Ozin, KC, representing the Met, told the hearing that Lee had bungled the investigation and then lied about it.

“Who knows what would have happened if a visit to Wayne Couzens’ door had occurred earlier that day?” he said at the hearing.

Couzens exposed himself to staff at a McDonald’s in Swanley, Kent, on February 14 and 27, 2021,

As indecent exposure is regarded as a “low-level” crime, it was three days before the investigation was actually assigned to an officer.

Lee visited the McDonald’s, and was told that CCTV of Couzens had been deleted in accordance with data protection laws.

However she admits she did not think to ask for CCTV footage of Couzens’ car because she had already been given the number plate of the man who had exposed himself.

Lee did run checks on the number plate, which brought up Couzens’ name at an address in Kent. But there were no criminal record matches, and there was no way for Lee to tell that he was a police officer.

Lee did not find enough evidence for an arrest, and failed to file the witness statements properly.

But she had was also been handed bank card details and a description of Couzens. That was enough evidence to connect Couzens to the offence and was enough to an arrest, Mr Ozin said.

“I hold my hands up to every mistake that I made,” Lee told the Sunday Times, adding “If that day hadn’t happened, if someone else had been in the appointment car that day, I’d never be in this situation,

“I’d probably still be a police officer now.”

She was handed a misconduct notice in May 2021. Over the following months the case against her escalated from misconduct to gross misconduct.

She says she felt “targeted and bullied” by her colleagues. She had anxiety attacks and suicidal feelings and was signed off work repeatedly.

Reports connecting Lee’s name to the Met’s failure to prosecute Couzens for repeated cases of indecent exposure resulted in a public backlash, and she received anonymous threats that she would be kidnapped raped and murdered.

Lee was officially suspended from the Met in November 2022 after bosses learned about her “officer Naughty” OnlyFans account.

She explained that with no qualifications, selling the pictures and videos online was the only way she would be able to make enough money to care for her four horses.

Lee says she has been “scapegoated” by Scotland Yard as a distraction from its poor handling of the Couzens case.

One colleague, posting anonymously on a police message board, agreed, sating “The Met just throwing another copper under the bus to try to salvage what they can… toxic as anything”.

Lee says that Sarah Everard “had the most horrific crimes committed against her before her murder and obviously with the murder… and it’s like, ‘We’ll just blame another woman’”.

The IOPC has concluded its investigations linked to the Couzens case. In total, 11 officers from four forces went through disciplinary proceedings, including six who faced gross misconduct panels.

One officer, who missed the first known opportunity to arrest Couzens when he who was reported for indecent exposure in 2015, has not been not disciplined.
