Prince William is concerned that Harry is trying to "take ownership" of their mother's legacy, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex has been using photos of Princess Diana to promote his new business ventures with wife Meghan Markle.

One was used for the couple's official web launch of Archewell, the foundation which will be home to their post-royal projects including multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify, the Mirror reports.

The adorable snap, which shows a young Harry sitting on his mum's shoulders, was the background of their New Year message alongside a picture of a young Meghan with mum Doria.

Motherhood was also the theme of their message, which began: "I am my mother's son. And I am our son's mother. Together we bring you Archewell."

Asked how William would feel about Harry using this image, royal expert and author Katie Nicholl told True Royalty TV's Royal Beat: "I think William will be concerned with that, Harry trying to take ownership of the Diana legacy will be a problem.

"But also Harry doing mental health, Harry doing conservation, these are the issues that William and Kate want to do – that's where I predict tensions.

"Heads Together was also Kate's idea."

However Katie explained that Harry has always been very open about wanting to continue Diana's legacy and doesn't believe the lack of reference to Prince Charles is a sign of any tension.

Katie says that the brothers' relation is much better than it was this time last year, when Meghan and Harry dropped their bombshell quitting statement.

She tells the programme: "This time last year [Prince William and Prince Harry] weren't talking to one and another.

"Things are better. There are still things to overcome but I think they all realise that you do have to move on in life.

She also doesn't believe that the Royal Family think Meghan and Harry's post-royal set up is working well, despite their initial concerns.

She explains: "My understanding from the Sussexes' camp is that there has been communication with the Queen, Prince Charles and with William as well.

"The general feeling is that this [current situation] is working.

"This isn't to say that people are not watching closely what these deals are, what the couple are doing and what these projects are going to be. But there is not this need to have this review one year on.

"The one thing that is outstanding is the issue of his [Prince Harry's] military title and I am told that it will be the Queen that ultimately makes that decision."
