Queen’s London 2012 Olympics stunt double jailed for attacking girlfriend

A stuntman who parachuted from a helicopter dressed as the Queen at the London 2012 Olympics has been jailed after he attacked his girlfriend.

Gary Connery, 53, pushed Tanya Brass down the stairs after a drunken row between the pair erupted inside their home in October 2020.

Ms Brass, who suffered from a shattered shoulder and a head injury, said in a statement: “I still haven’t fully recovered.

"The assault has also had a massive impact on my mental health.

"I am seeing a councillor and I don't know how I would have gone through this without their support.

"I want Gary to take responsibility for what he has done.”

Connery, of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, was put behind bars for 18 months after a jury found him guilty of GBH without intent.

The stuntman, who jumped into the Olympic opening ceremony with a wig and dress, was cleared of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Judge Nigel Daly said Connery has ruled that he is a “danger to the public”, reports The Sun.

“You have shown no remorse for what happened," he said to him.

"You still present a danger to the public

"I have read the pre-sentence report and I see no realistic prospect of rehabilitation."

The Daily Star recently reported how a 6ft thief disguised himself as an old lady during a Mrs Doubtfire-style bank heist.

The man was wearing a floral dress, with white sneakers and a matching wig as he stormed into Chase bank in the USA.

McDonough Police, based in Georgia, said at the time: "The suspect entered into the bank and presented a note demanding money.

"The suspect told the teller he had a gun. After receiving the money he left the bank and fled in a newer model small white SUV, possibly a Lexus, no tag displayed."
