Rail worker who shot dead 8 co-workers as home burnt down ‘knew them well’

Police sources have reportedly identified the suspected gunman of a horrifying gun massacre in San Jose.

The reported gunman is Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority worker Samuel Cassidy, 57, with reports the catalyst was a 'workplace issue'

Police also now believe that a huge fire at the gunman's house at the same time as the shootings was started by Cassidy.

Eight people were shot dead at a rail yard on Tuesday when Cassidy opened fire in San Jose, California, around 6.45am local time.

One person who survived the attack is in hospital fighting for their life according to reports.

Officials said that all of the victims and shooter were employees of the transit agency situated near the city's airport

The victims were found across two buildings on the site and were all identified late on Wednesday as being all male aged between 29 and 63.

The names of the deceased were: Paul Delacruz Megia, Taptejdeep Singh, Adrian Balleza, Jose Dejesus Hernandez III, Timothy Michael Romo, Michael Joseph Rudometkin, Abdolvahab Alaghmandan and Lars Kepler Lane.
