Reports Palace ‘ignored Harry and Meghan request to see Queen and bring Lilibet’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to meet the Queen in a matter of weeks, it is claimed.

If the supposed plans are agreed, it will be the first time the monarch has seen her youngest great-grandchild Lilibet.

Reports suggest the Sussexes would like to briefly return from the US this autumn, which will be Meghan's first time on British soil since Megxit in March 2020.

According to The Sun, Harry has been making "olive branch" calls to family members, as he and Meghan discuss Lilibet getting christened at Windsor Castle.

Given the couple's scathing comments about Harry's family on TV earlier this year, senior palace officials are allegedly stunned by their UK plans, it is believed.

A source said: "Harry and Meghan have made this offer but a lot of people are shocked by the sheer nerve of it.

"They may genuinely want to see the Queen but it’s breathtaking given what they’ve put her through this year.

"Her Majesty’s staff have not responded so far. In fact, there has also been discussion about Christmas — and whether an invitation should be sent to Harry and Meghan, after they spurned one last year.

"The Queen is still very fond of Harry, and would love to see Lilibet and her brother Archie.

"But courtiers are surprised by the move, especially from Meghan, after what has happened."

The Daily Star has approached Buckingham Palace and representatives for Harry and Meghan for comment.

Last month, Princess Diana's former voice coach claimed Harry and Meghan have been chatting with Prince William and Kate Middleton over Zoom.

Tensions had been high since the Duke and Sussex’s departure from the monarchy last year.

In March, Meghan even claimed that Kate had made her cry during her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

However, the royal couples have reportedly been trying to patch things up.

Stewart Pearce, author of Diana: The Voice of Change, says the couples are now “very close”.

He told US Weekly: “I know that the four are talking with one another and they’re talking by Zoom [and by] FaceTime.

“They’re very close with one another.”
