Royal fans tip Meghan and Harry to spend New Year’s Eve with celeb couple

A royal commentator has named one celebrity couple who Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could spend New Year’s Eve with, and it might surprise some royal watchers.

Harry and Meghan moved to their Montecito neighbourhood after leaving the Royal Family and have since found themselves surrounded by new celebrity neighbours including Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.

The couple opted against travelling to the UK to spend Christmas with the Queen, and with New Year’s Eve approaching, royal watchers have been speculating over how the Sussexes will see in 2022 as non-royals.

Speaking on the Royally Obsessed podcast, royal commentator Lainey Lui suggested that they might opt for a quiet affair with their reported friends David Foster and Katherine McPhee.

“I think that with the Sussexes, even though they keep their s*** locked down pretty tight, they do have a very, very small but close circle of celebrity friends," she said.

“And some of them are obvious, some of them have been reported, but people just don’t know how close they really are.

“If they were to have people over, it wouldn’t shock me if, for example, David Foster and Katherine McPhee came over.”

David is a Canadian music tycoon, who has been described as a “father figure” for Harry since his move to the US.

His wife Katherine is an actress and was a runner-up on American Idol, and the couple announced that they were expecting their first child together in October last year.

The pair have reportedly become close with the ex-royals since their sensational split from the monarchy, with David reportedly hosting Harry’s 36th birthday bash last year.

“People point to Ellen or Oprah, but I think that they’re missing the David Foster, Katherine McPhee angle,” Lainey continued.

“That was that steak dinner when they first got there, I remember those pictures,” interjected host Rachel Bowie.

“Also remember they have something to bond over; their babies are around the same age, right?” Lainey agreed. “Katherine and David’s little baby and Lilibet. So there’s a lot to bond over, there’s a lot of trust and history there.

“I would imagine, from what I’ve heard, that if anything, it’s going to be pretty quiet.”

This comes as royal fans were left fuming after the Queen failed to mention the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in her annual Christmas message, despite praising Prince William and Kate Middleton.
