A teenager was arrested after hatching a sickening plot to kill a jogger and keep his corpse in his home.
Logan Smith of Cocoa, Florida attempted to strangle the jogger to death but was overpowered by his victim, who detained him until police arrived on the scene, according to arrest reports.
The 18-year-old is said to have taken inspiration from the movie 'Scream' as he studied the jogger’s exercise routine and running route for weeks.
Smith allegedly told cops that he planned to strangle him and drag him back to his room in a bedsheet when the jogger passed his house.
The lad had placed a rubber mallet, an aerosol Axe deodorant can and a clothing robe belt between two parked cars in the driveway of his home as he waited for his victim, police say.
He allegedly explained that he intended to hit the victim with the mallet and impair his vision with the deodorant spray before choking him to death.
The arrest report said: "He further planned to place the victim’s body into his closet where the defendant stated no one would know, and the defendant could have the victim’s body all to himself.
"The defendant stated that he also planned to play with the victim to fulfil his sexual fantasies.”
Describing the assault, the report said "the defendant then tossed the clothing robe belt over the victim's head until it was around the front area of the victim's neck."
However, deputies said the victim said he immediately realized what was happening and used his martial arts training to turn the tables on his attacker.

Deputies said the victim told them that he typically runs about four times a week and has never met Smith, seen him, or spoken to him.
Smith's family members described him as a 'loner' and claimed he has suffered mentally since his dad passed away in a car accident five years ago.
His mother's boyfriend explained to Fox35 that the family plans to retain a lawyer and get Smith the mental health care he needs.
Smith is being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail for attempted murder charges.
