Two of the biggest problems of our age – climate change and dresses without pockets – are coming together to spark a crisis.
Dublin mattress mogul Michael Flynn – better known as Mattress Mick – has taken a stand against women keeping banknotes in their brassieres.
He took to Facebook to announce that due to the continuing scorching temperatures, as well as the need to maintain Covid precautions, his stores would no longer be accepting sweaty “bra money”.
He wrote: “Due to soaring heat wave across Dublin and on going safe trading with social distancing we would urge all customers not to pay us from their bras and keep your euro notes in your purse or handbag at all times.”
Responses to Mattress Mick’s plea were mixed among Facebook users.
Dublin local Mary Ladrigan quite reasonably asked “Sure who’d be wearing a bra in this weather?”
And Julie Kernan agreed, adding “he's lucky they're even wearing bras in this weather!”
Jennifer Fox was altogether less tolerant of Mattress Mick’s unwillingness to handle sweaty cash.

"Personal Safety!” she wrote.
“That’s hilariously ridiculous. What do you think the Euro notes are gonna do to you? …..LOL …..jump up and bite you on the neck? They aren't going to attack you. Chill.”
Not satisfied, Jennifer waded into the comments again saying “Don't you mean "butter" vouchers?
"It's all money at the end of the day ….I don't think you care that much as long as you are making an enormous profit. Which you are!”
Commenter Fluff 9898 weighed in, somewhat bafflingly, with “Oh, please! Women have been doing this for years. We've kept our Debit Cards, our Mobile phones, our house keys and cash etc in our bras.
“However under our breasts is very sweaty, often dribbling down our body. We hate it! often have to put tissues in our bra to soak it up. Something men don't have to experience.
She added: “What kind of a woman does that? Someone that's been dragged up, not brought up. Vile.”
